INAUGURAL BURSA BULL CHARGE RAISES RM1.37 MILLION FOR CHARITY
Over 1,300 Capital Market Bulls Charged Through the Streets of Kuala Lumpur Running For Others
The Bursa Bull Charge 2014 organised by Bursa Malaysia raised RM1.37 million for charity. All the funds raised will be channeled to all the beneficiaries and no funds will be carried forward.
The key beneficiaries of the Bursa Bull Charge 2014 are Persatuan Kebajikan An-Najjah Malaysia, Sekolah Latihan Wanita Ipoh, Persatuan Rumah Amal Sabah (formerly Sabah Cheshire Home), My Performing Arts Agency, CADS Enhancement Centre, Kelab Belia Kalsom, Women International Network (WIN) and Borneo Eco Film Festival (BEFF).
The Bursa Bull Charge, which carries the tagline "The Day The Marketplace Runs For Others" extends beyond just raising money for charity. The aim is also to raise the bar on sustainability, inclusiveness and level of entrepreneurship amongst the people in our community. The event drew more than 1,300 runners and 130 organisations comprising Public Listed Companies, Brokers, Investment Banks, Ministries, Regulators and Media who ran shoulder-to-shoulder and charged through Kuala Lumpur’s Central Business District. It also attracted 300 youths who participated in the run.
The Bursa Bull Charge had the unprecedented financial support by Bursa Malaysia and the sponsor partners of which Maybank Investment Bank was the main sponsor (Mammoth sponsor), with the other key sponsors being SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd and YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (Jumbo sponsors), while the other sponsors included IJM Corporation Bhd, Protasco Bhd, Pestech Sdn Bhd and Berjaya Corporation Bhd (Husky sponsors).
Dato’ Tajuddin Atan, Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia said "I am very humbled by the support of the capital market players as shown in the participation level which doubled that of previous years. Thanks to the participation of the capital market players, we are able to meet our objective of inclusivity.
To top it off, we are delighted that we have been able to raise RM1.37 million which exceeded our expectations. I believe it will certainly make an impact or difference to the diverse organisations selected ranging from the underprivileged women to special needs children to performing arts and culture."
