Daily Market Commentary (Securities)

19 October 2018

The FBM KLCI index lost 5.87 points or 0.34% on Friday. The Finance Index fell 0.10% to 17565.46 points, the Properties Index dropped 0.05% to 890.33 points and the Plantation Index rose 0.54% to 7426.97 points. The market traded within a range of 15.58 points between an intra-day high of 1733.71 and a low of 1718.13 during the session.

Actively traded stocks include IRIS, MYEG, DSONIC, SAPNRG, DSONIC-WA, PRESBHD, HSI-C3V, K1, HSI-H4V and HSI-C3X. Trading volume increased to 2410.39 mil shares worth RM2303.37 mil as compared to Thursday’s 2001.67 mil shares worth RM2028.81 mil.

Leading Movers were SIMEPLT (+15 sen to RM5.28), MISC (+14 sen to RM5.73), HAPSENG (+20 sen to RM9.70), GENTING (+13 sen to RM7.44) and MAHB (+11 sen to RM8.61). Lagging Movers were AXIATA (-18 sen to RM3.71), TM (-9 sen to RM2.41), SIME (-7 sen to RM2.50), DIGI (-12 sen to RM4.30) and MAXIS (-12 sen to RM5.39). Market breadth was negative with 252 gainers as compared to 579 losers.

The KLCI closed flat at 1732.14 points amid overnight lost in US markets. The performance of our local bourse was remain muted as lack of fresh catalyst.
