The Finance Index increased 0.27% to 17236.98 points, the Properties Index up 0.32% to 1224.69 points and the Plantation Index down 0.39% to 8037.87 points. Daily Market Commentary (Securities)

The FBM KLCI index gained 7.23 points or 0.40% on Friday. The Finance Index increased 0.27% to 17236.98 points, the Properties Index up 0.32% to 1224.69 points and the Plantation Index down 0.39% to 8037.87 points. The market traded within a range of 7.15 points between an intra-day high of 1828.83 and a low of 1821.68 during the session.

Actively traded stocks include SUMATEC, UMWOG, SAPNRG, HUAAN, APFT, HENGYUAN-CO, PUC, HIBISCS, NETX and UMWOG-WA. Trading volume decreased to 3831.78 mil shares worth RM3190.83 mil as compared to Thursday’s 4596.55 mil shares worth RM3284.69 mil.

Leading Movers were PETGAS (+88 sen to RM18.20), YTL (+3 sen to RM1.54), AMMB (+8 sen to RM4.70), RHBBANK (+8 sen to RM5.30) and SIME (+4 sen to RM2.80). Lagging Movers were ASTRO (-3 sen to RM2.57), KLCC (-8 sen to RM7.75), PETCHEM (-7 sen to RM8.10), NESTLE (-90 sen to RM105.90) and SIMEPLT (-4 sen to RM5.50). Market breadth was positive with 518 gainers as compared to 446 losers.

The KLCI recovered yesterday’s losses and closed higher at 1828.83 points despite overnight retreat in US market. The performance of our local bourse was in tandem with most of our regional peers amid global growth optimism.
