Explore bullish investment opportunities at
Malaysia’s flagship investment conference

25 - 26 March 2008
Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

Invest Malaysia 2008 – Malaysia’s premier investment conference for institutional investors, featuring the latest capital market developments and key investment prospects. Be part of this exclusive by invitation-only event and engage with corporate leaders, industry players and policy makers of the Malaysian capital market.

Invest Malaysia 2008 is designed along 3 major thematic lines:

Energy & other resources - Living with US$100 per barrel oil. The high price of oil opens up opportunities throughout the value chain whether in capex, exploration, development, production, refining, marketing, distribution, services or even alternative and unconventional energy investments. Malaysia currently benefits from high commodity prices and should reinvest this windfall in new technologies and productivity improvements to prepare for an eventual pull back in prices. The government could champion carbon trading and second generation biofuel technology if needed.

Market liberalisation - With increasing globalisation, the search for efficiency and innovation becomes even more critically urgent. Government policies like subsidy removals, tariff realignments, and deregulation of price controls can help raise global competitiveness but simultaneously we need to balance this with the needs of the rakyat. Other policy changes and incentives are needed to promote reinvestment in higher value added areas particularly in services and Electrical & Electronics.

Domestic demand - The US subprime fallout will be mitigated in Malaysia by domestic demand. The 9th Malaysia Plan, civil servant pay increase, and deregulation at the EPF will keep demand robust. Domestic companies however need to provide for increasingly sophisticated consumers who are using global brands like BMW and Citibank as benchmarks. The government can introduce policies to help companies build on their domestic base and expand abroad at the same time.

Several streams / sectors will be showcased within these broad thematic lines.
