The Awards Dinner is held annually in London in the first half of
the year. Towards the end of last year, FOW had begun to gather anonymous nominations for
possible contenders for the 2008 awards. Nominees came in from around the world and after a
shortlist had been done, the judging process began. Over 50 of the industries leaders gave
their opinions as to which firms had been successful in the past twelve, quite turbulent, months.
Innovation, growth of business, expansion into new areas and exemplary customer service were
rewarded at this year's ceremony which took place on April 7 at Plasterers' Hall, One London Wall.
On Bursa Malaysia's win, the following announcement was made: Many of the derivatives exchanges in the Asia Pacific region have had great success over the past year making this category a very close call. But while some regions still struggle to enable access to the foreign investor, the winner of this category has made a concerted drive to promote, market and make itself attractive to those domiciled outside its home shores. Its net profit jumped 123% in 2007 and growth in its derivatives segment was unprecedented. The derivatives market as a whole benefited from the upward trend of crude palm oil prices and the movement of its flagship KLCI index. Its US dollar denominated palm oil contract is set to strengthen its position in the global market for the rest of the year as it plans to market itself both to retail traders and foreign investors. FOW's Exchange of the Year Asia Pacific ................. goes to BURSA MALAYSIA"
