Community investment (CI) is a component of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and refers
to how a company’s invested or donated money, time, products, services, influence, management
knowledge and other resources makes a positive contribution to deserving local communities. CI aims
to forming significant long-term value for both the company and the community.
Bursa Malaysia views CI as a long-term effort to creating meaningful impact for the
communities surrounding us. Our CI efforts aim to:
improve the quality of life through enhanced education for the young;
provide opportunities for the underprivileged;
encourage employee volunteerism; and
generate sustainable acceptance and appreciation by communities
Via our charitable foundation arm, Yayasan Bursa Malaysia, our main community investment
activities include:
Scholarships
In support of Youth Development and in meeting Bursa Malaysia’s
future talent pool needs, Yayasan Bursa Malaysia offers a scholarship programme to undergraduate
students in local, public or private universities in Malaysia. Since 2006, the scholarship has been
awarded to five selected students each year, of which two has since graduated.
We are pleased to inform that the scholarship programme for 2009
is now open for application. First year students undertaking the following disciplines are
encouraged to apply:
1) IT
2) Economics
3) Accounting
4) Islamic Finance

Charity Fund-raising Event: The Edge – Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur
Rat Race
On annual basis since 2000, The Edge-Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Rat Race has been one of the
main fund-raising platforms for Yayasan Bursa Malaysia. Co-organised with The Edge, the corporate
Race is a 4.5km run around Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle all for a good cause. Last year's
Race collected RM1.74 million that was subsequently contributed equally to 20 selected charities.

Contributions to the Underprivileged and Less
Fortunate
Yayasan Bursa Malaysia continues to provide philanthropic support to various causes for the
underprivileged and the less fortunate. However, to ensure that any form of contribution that it
makes will be more meaningful and have more impact to the community, each request for contribution
or donation will be screened thoroughly to ensure that the request meets set criteria.
