Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Berhad (BMD) is a 75%-owned subsidiary of Bursa Malaysia Berhad which provides, operates and maintains a futures and options exchange. BMD operates the most liquid and successful crude palm oil futures (FCPO) contract in the world.

CEO's Message

The date, 1st December 2009, marks a landmark event. It is the rebirth of Bursa Malaysia Derivatives (BMD) with Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) coming on officially as an equity partner in BMD.

For BMD, this strategic partnership represents a quantum leap onto the global derivatives scene through close partnership collaboration with CME and leveraging on CME’s internationally distributed Globex trading system.

For CME, this represents their partnership participation in this part of Asia which is one of the fastest growing regions in this century. We are excited about this event and its future development.

A partnership venture like the new BMD is never possible without the help of many team members. I want to take this occasion to thank the regulators, Board members, Leadership Team, Project Team and each and every one of you who have shown concern, care and support for the project. We now stand together and know all have contributed and made the partnership possible. You have made history.

My BMD team and I would like to thank you for your continued care and support as we make the transition onto Globex and strive to innovate and create products to serve the global derivatives marketplace better.
