Kuala Lumpur, 10 August 2017 – Are you ready to join the charge? The Bursa Bull Charge (BBC), the annual charity run where the marketplace runs for others, is back for its fourth year. Charging in on 14 September 2017, runners are expected to take to the central business district of Kuala Lumpur to #run4others.

“We are proud that the capital market does not think twice about coming together to support a beneficial cause, and that Bursa Malaysia is taking the lead in offering a platform to unite those who are able to provide for those in need,” says Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan, CEO of Bursa Malaysia. “In line with our sustainability agenda, Bursa is taking initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint for all Bursa initiated events. For BBC this year, we intend to manage a carbon neutral event, and we believe our sponsors, partners and participants are also on the same page. In this regard, we would like to encourage race participants to take the public transport or car pool to the race. Furthermore, we will be donating any surplus food or water to a food bank to ensure nothing goes to waste.”

The BBC has grown in popularity and importance as the leading charity run in the capital marketplace. This is evidenced not only in the continuing, but increasing, support from the industry. In fact, 65% of the sponsors are sponsoring the BBC for the first time.

Feruni Ceramiche Sdn Bhd is once again showing its support for the Bursa Bull Charge. The company is taking over as the lead sponsor in the Gaur category. While GD Express Carrier Bhd, Scientex Berhad and SP Setia are sponsoring the Buffalo category. Pestech International Berhad and Tenaga Nasional Berhad are back as sponsors in the Ongole category, together with EcoWorld, Ekovest Berhad, Karex Berhad, Pavilion REIT, Press Metal Berhad, Top Glove Corporation Berhad and TRX City Sdn Bhd.

Featured sponsors include Maybank Investment Bank, Software Dynamics Sdn Bhd, ValueCap Bhd and Pelaburan Mara Berhad. While partnering Bursa Malaysia for the Bursa Bull Charge this year is Brooks, Fraser & Neave Holdings Berhad, International SOS (M) Sdn Bhd and The Pacific Insurance Berhad with Media Prima Berhad and Nanyang Siang Pau as our media partners.

Last year, the Bursa Bull Charge attracted more than 2,000 participants, out of which 210 were made up of C-suites, from 217 organisations, raising RM2.1 million that were disbursed to selected beneficiaries.

Since the first run four years ago, the generosity from the capital market has enabled BBC to raise just over RM5 million, benefitting 78 charities and NGOs including those targeting women, children and arts and culture. The BBC funds have enabled them to continuously operate to benefit the disadvantaged and the disabled.

Bursa Bull Charge tracks a 5 km run through Kuala Lumpur’s Capital Market Trail that passes the headquarters of a number of Malaysia’s capital market players. The run categories include the 1.5km CEO Run, a 5.0km Individual Run and a 2.5km Corporate Relay Run.
