The day the capital market unites to #run4others

Kuala Lumpur, 14 July 2016 – The Bursa Bull Charge, the day the marketplace runs for others, is back again for the third year this 8th September 2016. Runners representing Malaysia’s capital market industry will take to the streets of Kuala Lumpur to #run4others, in support of local entrepreneurship and financial literacy in Malaysia.

Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan, CEO of Bursa Malaysia, said, “Despite the challenging market conditions, we believe that the capital market should unite for the Bursa Bull Charge and continue to give what it can to the less fortunate.  In the spirit of running for others, the Bursa Bull Charge has grown to become the pride of the capital market in fostering inclusiveness, unity and camaraderie, as we help to build stronger communities together.

With each passing year I have seen the participation of more inclusive teams drawn from across the breadth of the Malaysian capital market.  This year, I am looking forward to sharing the day with an even greater diversity of participants, who represent the dynamism and ambition of the capital market.”

Organised by Bursa Malaysia, the capital market flagship charity run brings together the entire capital market, including CEOs and staff from public listed companies, brokers, SMEs, government agencies and regulators to run side by side with traders, remisiers, trading partners, the media and young executives, to raise awareness and promote financial literacy and social entrepreneurship in the community.

Last year’s Bursa Bull Charge saw more than 1,800 runners take to the streets. To inspire a greater diversity of participants, Bursa Malaysia is offering complimentary entry for female runners in the CEO/C-suite category for the first team registered.

All proceeds raised from the Bursa Bull Charge will be channeled to selected beneficiaries.   Last year’s Bursa Bull Charge raised RM1.8 million for charity and RM1.37 million the previous year.

The Bursa Bull Charge tracks a 5km run following Kuala Lumpur’s Capital Market Trail, a route through the Central Business District that passes the headquarters of many of Malaysia’s capital market players in downtown Kuala Lumpur. The run categories will include the 1.5km CEOs Run, a 5.0km Individual Run and a 2.5km Corporate Relay Run.

The 3rd Bursa Bull Charge is now open for registration for all members of the capital market.  For more information, please visit the website: bullcharge.bursamarketplace.com.
